One-Trick Pony craps system Nov 11th 2012, 11:08 The One-Trick Pony Craps System is sometimes called the one-roll system. It is designed to cover all the numbers on a craps table with the exception of 7. The dice have no memory, each roll is independent of the last, but many players will only play this system after a point is established. And, they prefer to bet this after there is a front-line, seven-winner and then a point established. This happens fairly regularly, so don't think you won't get a chance to make some bets. After a point is established, any 7 loses for the pass better. This system is the same. Betting is easy and requires three place bets and a field bet. Betting Place the number 5 for $5 and the numbers 6 and 8 for $6 each ($17 total bet). Bet $5 in the field to cover 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12 ($5 total bet). If 7 rolls, you lose $22. If 5, 6 or 8 rolls you lose the field bet and win the place bet for $7 and make a profit of $2 and take all your bets down. If a field number of 3, 4, 9, 10, or 11 rolls you win $5 and take all your bets down. If 2 rolls (at most clubs this pays double) you win $10 and take all your bets down. If 12 rolls (at most clubs this pays triple) you win $15 and take all your bets down. Because 7 rolls an average of 6 times out of 36, you will win one of your bets 30 times out of 36. You will lose 6 times out of 36. Expectations follow: Lose on 7 rolled: 6 x 22 = $132 Win a place bet (5, 6, 8) 14 x 2 = $28. Win a field bet (3, 4, 9, 10, 11) 14 x 5 = $70 Win on 2 once ($10) and 12 once ($15) = $25 *** Total $123 returned On average, if you constantly made this bet and never took your bets down, you would lose $9 every 36 rolls. However, this system is designed to be played for one roll only, and then you wait until you are ready to bet it again. The hope with this system is that you can walk up to a crap game, wait until the time is right and then make your bets, win, and walk away (or wait for another opportunity). If you raise your bets and place the number 5 for $25 and place the 6 and 8 for $30 and put $25 in the field, you will be shooting to win either $35 for 5, 6 or 8 and $25 in the field (or $50 if deuces rolls or $75 if twelve rolls).

One turned to the other and asked, “Are you superstitious?” His friend replied, “I used to be but then I heard it was unlucky so I stopped.” Gamblers are probably the most superstitious people in the world and they will do anything to improve their chances of winning. Whether it is carrying a lucky charm or performing some sort of ritual before or during their gambling sessions, they will try a variety of things to influence lady luck to smile on them. Psychologists have done many studies into the relationship between gambling and superstitions. The conclusions of several of these studies show that superstitions can develop in many gamblers and become a basis for future gambling sessions. If the player has won, he looks at what transpired during the winning session. This is where a player may decide that an article of clothing or some other activity was “responsible” for their good fortune. Likewise if a player loses, he will look to see what may have caused his misfortune. If a player has one or two losing sessions with a particular dealer, they may develop a feeling that the dealer is unlucky and unbeatable. Not all superstitions are developed by personal observations and many gamblers just buy into the existing beliefs that have been passed down through the ages. They may choose to believe that something is unlucky and avoid it as to not tempt fate. Others may test a superstition only to discover a self fulfilling a prophecy with their actions. If you think it is unlucky to sit with your legs crossed while playing poker and you do it, you may just lose because subconsciously you expect to lose. If you do lose, it will only reinforce the belief. Many gamblers have what I like to refer to as “selective amnesia.” We only remember those events that correspond to our own personal beliefs. Many gamblers have come to believe some of the gambling superstitions because they have heard others repeat them. The following are a few of the most common gambling superstitions. Popular Gambling Superstitions Many gamblers feel that it is unlucky to enter a casino through the main entrance. Years ago the MGM in Las Vegas was themed after the MGM film studios and the main entrance was through the mouth of the large MGM lion. Many superstitious players would not enter the casino by going into the mouth of the lion. They considered it a double curse to walk into the mouth of the beast along with the fact that it was the main entrance to the casino. Many gamblers believe that $50 bills are unlucky and they will not accept being paid with them. There are several casinos I have visited that do not give out $50 bills from the cage when players cash in their chips. The casinos that do use $50 bill often find that gamblers will refuse them as payment. Some people also regard the two dollar bill as unlucky and this might explain why the numerous attempts to bring them back into general circulation have failed. Never count your money while you are playing is a common belief. Kenny Rogers even immortalized this concept in his song the Gambler when he sang. “You never count your money when you sitting at the table, there’ll be time of enough for counting when the dealings done.” That brings up another superstition that singing or whistling while you are gambling is bad luck. If someone is whistling past the graveyard, they are trying to remain cheerful in difficult circumstances so perhaps this has carried over into the thinking that it should not be done while gambling. You should wear red clothing while gambling is an Asian superstition that has been popularized in the film Kung Fu Mahjong. Some players have a favorite color that they will wear while they gamble to make them feel lucky. Don’t cross your legs while playing or you will “cross out your good luck”. (This could explain why they make those seats so close to the slot machines. I never have room to cross my legs even if I was not afraid that it would bring me bad luck.) Harmless Fun Even though we claim not to be, most of us have one or two superstitions we subscribe to while gambling. 80 percent of the gamblers who responded to a survey said that they believed in superstitions or carried out some sort of lucky ritual while gambling. As long as you don’t let your superstitions control you, believing in something that will bring you good luck can actually be beneficial. cpr Nov 11th 2012, 11:08 Some friends of mine were heading to the casino to play craps for the first time. One member of the group had a limited bankroll and wanted to play but did not want to risk a lot of money on each shooter. She asked if there was a system that could hopefully keep her money alive long enough to enjoy an afternoon of craps. I told her there was no guarantees but suggested that she might try a little CPR on the 6 or 8. I then explained that CPR stood for Collect, Press and Regress. Here is how it works with a place bet on the number six. Place the number six for $6. When it hits the first time you Collect your $7 win. You now will have a $1 profit even if the shooter sevens out. After the second hit you tell the dealer to Press your bet. He will add $6 to you place bet and give you a dollar back from the $7 you won. You now have a profit of $2. On the third hit, you will tell the dealer to Regress you bet back to $6. The dealer will give you $20. This is $14 for your place bet win and the $6 that you took down when you regressed your bet. You now have a profit of $22 no matter what happens. You can now repeat the process. Just remember to Collect, then Press and Regress. This is a very simple system utilizing bets with a low house edge. Except for betting the pass line and come bets with odds, (including don't pass don't come) placing the six and eight has the lowest house edge of all the craps bets. It is a good system for a newcomer or someone who wants to enjoy the excitement of the game without risking very much money. The most you can lose on a shooter is a minimum “Place” bet. This method can be used with more than one place bet but you should treat each number separately. You are looking for the repeating numbers. A little CPR just might save your bankroll on your next trip to the tables. While no system can change the house edge this might win you a little more money if you come across a hot shooter.
